Having talent is not the only requirement when it comes to a successful business. If you want to perform at your optimal level, you need to take specific and important needs into consideration. Often these needs are ignored or not taken seriously by business owners – if you want to stay successful, you have to make them a top priority.
These habits need to be ingrained in your daily routine, if you want to be (and stay) as a top performer:
Make sure that you get enough rest
By lacking sleep, you’ll perform in the same mind state of someone with a hangover. Yuck! When you’re tired, the first thing you want is a coffee to give you that typical mental kick … and by doing that, you’re only on the path to further exhaustion. Get enough sleep make you feel more alert and mentally recharged, and this in turn will help you maintain maximum focus for a longer period of time throughout the day.
Consider drinking water with lemon
Instead of drinking coffee – opt for lemon water. Lemons might not have caffeine, but they don’t have any negative side effects that come from coffee. Lemon water wakes up your brain properly, detoxifies the body, strengthens the immune system, is anti-bacterial, gives you fresh breath, is alkaline, helps to prevent PMS symptoms, is good for digestive health, and improves your cognitive thinking. In general, it will just make you feel better so that you can also perform better. Don’t forget to hydrate all day long.
Daily exercise is a must
Get a FitBit .. track your steps, the number of floors you climb and monitor your sleep. I have to admit, I enjoy checking out my sleep pattern on the FitBIt Dashboard .. just wish I hit my target of 8 hours just once in awhile!
Exercise is a stress-reliever and produces endorphins which gives you a happy feeling. In turn that gives your brain more flexibility, increases the growth of new brain cells and burns calories to eliminate fat cells. All these advantages improves your efficiency when it comes to work. Exercise makes you think and learn clearer, makes you think and learn better and faster.
It isn’t just about being healthier – exercising makes you feel more confident, which is vital when it comes to being successful and on top of your game.
Have people who love and understand you
In order to be happy and successful, you need people who listen, love and understand you when it comes to feelings and emotions. By having this support, you’ll be more positive, less stressed, and have more motivation to press forward to fulfill your dreams. It makes your business life and personal life better overall.
Be an optimist
The most accomplished leaders say that being optimistic is a requirement to being a great leader. Having a positive mind frame will lead to a positive outcome. By having trust and faith in life, you’ll be able to conquer obstacles or challenges in a much easier way. You’ll be able to handle stress, fear and anxiety much better by believing that everything will be fine. Optimistic people always believe that life is what you make it and that everyone’s responsible for their own happiness.
Spend time by yourself and #unplug
Taking time off just by just being alone, recovers you mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s good for the soul and recharges you in order to be on top of your game again. Being alone offers you to reflect on yourself and life in general. It draws you back by living in the moment and increases your awareness of what’s going on around you. It gives you the space to meditate and evaluate
- All the things that are good in life right now
- What you still want to achieve or dream of
- All the changes you still want to make.
Once you evaluated everything, you’re ability to perform will be top notch again.
Be willing to receive…
Be open to new opportunities and always keep an open mind. The best mind set is to ‘think big and dream big’ by walking through life in this mind frame and having a strong belief you’re your dreams will come true, believe me they will. Know that goals can only be achieved through persistence, hard work, patience and keeping an open mind. When you’re willing to receive, you’re on the right path to get where you want to go.
Be a giver
I’ve written many times about volunteering and philanthropy in business and why it’s so important – and not from a business standpoint. When you’re a person who always gives back, you feel positive about yourself, keep grounded are are authentic. When you are grateful, you work harder and perform better.
